Day Habilitation
The DePaul Day Habilitation Services, referred to as Day Hab, helps individuals achieve satisfying and rewarding connections and relationships within their communities. These services are very flexible and can be provided almost anywhere in the community where an individual wishes to explore new experiences. Learning about the community and forming relationships often requires the participant to learn new skills to obtain their life goals. These self-directed, person-centered experiences enable the person to make informed choices and to identify new valued outcomes.
Volunteering is an important component of Day Hab Services. As a volunteer, the consumer learns about employment opportunities, what people do for jobs, how to volunteer, how to get and how to keep a job. Volunteering also promotes community participation and contribution. Staff supports are provided when the individual is not expected to independently perform a task without supervision. This supervision can be decreased as the individual becomes familiar with the job.
All of these Day Hab Services are designed to help the person live successfully in their home, work at their job and participate in their community.
