Representative Payee Program
When someone requires assistance in managing their money, individuals or agencies can be appointed to serve as a representative payee who ensures that income is used for the personal care and well-being of the individual they are representing. Since 1995, DePaul has been certified to serve as a representative payee for interested individuals residing in Monroe, Erie, Wayne, and Ontario counties. In most circumstances, those requiring a representative payee are receiving monthly Social Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability (SSD) checks. When a recipient needs this kind of help, the Social Security Administration, after careful investigation, can appoint DePaul as the representative payee. The person's Social Security, SSI or SSD benefits are then paid in the representative payee's name (DePaul) on the beneficiary's behalf.
