DePaul Holiday Helpers 2014

DePaul Holiday Helpers Title DePaul Today Blog

From your heart to theirs.

That perhaps best describes the mission behind the DePaul Holiday Helpers Program. For over 16 years, DePaul has helped make the holiday season brighter for our clients through the Holiday Helpers Program which matches consumers in DePaul’s mental health residential and treatment programs with generous donors who make their holiday wishes come true.

It’s as simple as that.

Helping wishes become reality

DePaul continuously assists clients in overcoming challenges as they strive to manage their symptoms, become more independent, and establish positive ties in the community.

As the holidays approach, some of these individuals find themselves alone or separated from their families. What a difference it makes for someone in need to be remembered, to have a wish become reality.

Last year, over 105 individuals benefited from this effort thanks to the support of many caring hearts.

You may elect to actually purchase items that a client has specifically wished for, or make a monetary donation that will allow DePaul to purchase the requested items. Past wish lists have included requests as simple as a piece of chocolate cake, socks, cat toys, or diapers…or as practical as a coat or boots.

“Thank you” just isn’t enough

Our donors are special souls indeed. Somehow, just saying thank you doesn’t seem like enough to express our deep gratitude for all of the caring gifts given, many going above and beyond the wish list requests. It’s obvious the items are thoughtfully and carefully chosen and the recipients never fail to be delighted by the great generosity shown to them.
