September 16, 2016 (Mt. Airy, NC) ─ First they walked to Mexico. Now residents at Twelve Oaks, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Mt. Airy have taken a total of 2,296 laps around the building, each one representing the equivalent of two miles, to complete a recent walking challenge to Hawaii. The community celebrated the Walking Club’s accomplishment with a summer luau.

The summer luau included tropical drinks around a tiki bar, colorful leis, a barbecue and dancing. Pictured here are Claude Branch with Twelve Oaks Personal Care Assistant Calle Fulton and Faye Fowler at the summer luau! The next walking challenge has residents en route to New Orleans.

Twelve Oaks is also participating in Gentiva Heath Services’ Step It Up Challenge by wearing pedometers to track their steps.
