Comfort Pets a Joy For All (Westwood Commons)

March 9, 2017 (North Chili, NY) ─ Petting the orange motorized calico cat in her lap, Mary Light was surprised when it  let out an audible “meow.”

“Oh that’s her,” exclaimed Mary Light. “I thought that was something else. She’s beautiful.”

Westwood Commons, a DePaul Senior Living Community in North Chili, recently welcomed two Hasbro “Joy For All” Companion Pets – “Olive,” as the cat has been named, and “Sparky,” a Golden Puppy.

Westwood Commons Administrator Karen Shaffer said the Joy For All pets are a great addition to the community and some residents have even mistaken them for the real deal.  Westwood Commons Regional Director Tanya MacNaughton said she’s noticed an increase in verbal communication from residents when holding the Joy For All pets.

“There is not only a sense of calmness about the residents when they are holding them but a kind of excitement and purpose that lights up their faces,” she said.
