Trojans Take Action at Glenwell

June 7, 2017 (Cheektowaga, NY) ─  A group of West Seneca East Senior High School students recently visited Glenwell as part of the Trojans Take Action Day. The students assisted residents at the DePaul Senior Living Community in Cheektowaga with a variety of activities.

“The students had a great time interacting with residents and really loved spending time with them and hearing their stories,” said teacher Nadine Ocasio.

Students and seniors participated in Hollywood Squares, had plenty of laughs along the way, and everyone really enjoyed this intergenerational partnership, said Glenwell Activities Coordinator Scott Wieser.

“The students are welcome back any time they want,” he added.

Trojan’s Take Action Day is the culmination of the school’s Leadership Academy and an opportunity for the entire school to give back to the community! As part of the program, the entire school body pauses to explore leadership ideas from Stephen Covey’s book “7 Habits of Highly Effective Habits” once a month. Students and staff members are broken into teams as they learn the habits and further explore how they can be used in everyday life lessons.
