September 26, 2017 (Laurinburg, NC) ─ Prestwick Village, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Laurinburg, recently celebrated National Assisted Living Week (NALW) from September 10 to 16. Inspired by this year’s theme, “Family is Forever,” residents and staff took the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the strong bonds and lasting imprints they share with each other and the community.

Residents and staff expressed their appreciation for one another and the surrounding community with “Love Drops,” new resident ribbon cuttings, and a “My Pleasure” campaign!

The local UPS and Dollar Tree stores were recipients of “Love Drops” in September. Residents baked homemade cookies and then delivered them to area businesses. Dollar Tree Store Manager Amanda Martin, pictured above with Prestwick Village residents Pat West and Robbie Watson, said the gesture was totally unexpected!

“Oh my gosh, we were super excited,” she said. “It warmed our hearts that they thought to bring us the cookies that they made themselves.”

Also pictured with West and Watson are UPS Store owner Matt Locklear, Darron Sanders, Xavier Locklear and Wes Locklear. Wes Locklear said the Love Drop was greatly appreciated!

“They were really good cookies,” said Wes Locklear. “They know what they’re doing!”

Prestwick Village’s hospitality took the form of new resident ribbon cuttings, another way to shine a spotlight on the importance of assisted living in September. Pictured here, June Benson celebrates her move into Prestwick Village!

In addition, residents and staff put a special twist on National Assisted Living Week with a “My Pleasure” campaign. While giving time and attention to our residents at Prestwick Village Assisted Living, staff made it a habit to respond with “My Pleasure!” All staff wore buttons bearing the slogan on them, as a reminder to respond to requests from residents and fellow staff with the words “My Pleasure!”
