30 Years of Business with Heart (Dayspring of Wallace)

March 15, 2018 (Wallace, NC) ─ It is time for the matriarch of Johnson’s Furniture to kick back and relax in style! After 30 years in furniture sales, Laura Johnson has decided to sell her family’s namesake business on Main Street in Wallace, though it will still remain open and keep its name.

Laura and her late husband John W. Johnson have two children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Laura worked in a furniture store for 25 years before she and her husband got the opportunity to buy their own store. Over the years, she said, they employed about a dozen people at the family-owned and operated business. Her secret to success was good furniture at good prices.

“I have always said what made me successful was I was honest about anything I sold, and if I was asked a question I didn’t know the answer to, I would tell them that,” Laura said. “I’m a people person. I love people and I love helping people.”

The two have been friends since first grade!

Dayspring of Wallace Activities Director Lisa Rich said her family has bought furniture from Johnson for many years, and many of Johnson’s old customers still stop in to visit her!

“The people around Duplin County say she is the best person to deal with,” said Rich. “She will always do what she can to help with payments and prices. There are many families that have had flood damage, fire, sickness and she would give anything she could to help out.”
