Flag Day Salute (Wheatfield Commons)

June 20, 2018 (Wheatfield, NY) ─ Old Glory is flying high and proud at Wheatfield Commons, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Wheatfield, thanks to a brand new flag pole, installed in time for Memorial Day and Flag Day.

Pictured above, residents Richard and Betty Heffernan, Douglas Wright, Earl Hunkins and Norman Pawlak raise the American flag on a new pole at Wheatfield Commons. President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed June 14th Flag Day in 1916, making this the 241st anniversary of the adoption of the official flag of the United States.

Wheatfield Commons’ veterans and residents helped dedicate the flagpole and new flag on Memorial Day, waving their red, white and blue banners and singing patriotic songs. Pictured above, Wheatfield Commons residents Beatrice Stromenger, Judi Dziekan, Mary Bucciarelli, Mary Williams and Norman and Mary Lou Pawlak pay tribute to old glory.
