Fun on Two Wheels at Southfork

July 5, 2018 (Winston-Salem, NC) ─ The North Carolina Chapter 19 of the Blue Knights, an International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club were greeted with smiles when they recently rolled up to Southfork, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Winston-Salem.

Pictured above is Southfork resident Brenda Bailey, as well as Dorothy Hicks with her son Al Hicks, president of the local chapter of the Blue Knights.

“All of us are retired or full-time working law enforcement,” said Al Hicks. “We like being out in the public and interacting with people. Law enforcement is a public service organization. It’s kind of instilled in us to be involved and serve the public.”

“The residents enjoyed getting to visit with the members, looking at the bikes and having their photos taken with their favorites,” said Activities Director Anna McAlister. “A resident and a few staff members even got a chance to ride on one of the bikes!”

“Everybody seems to love motorcycles, from age 1 to 91,” said Hicks. “They are pretty to look at and a lot of folks have either ridden one at some point in time or know somebody who did.”
