Stopping to Smell the Flowers (Southfork)

May 13, 2019 (Winston-Salem, NC) ─ There were no signs of April showers, only May flowers on display at the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden, located in the Kernersville Historic District. Residents from Southfork, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Winston-Salem, recently took the opportunity to stop and smell the flowers at this gorgeous community garden.

Pictured above, Southfork residents Steve Taylor, Brenda Bailey, Norma Puckett, Libby Carter, Catherine Vanneman, Jane Myers and Lydia Rivera enjoy the smells, sights and sounds during a tour of the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden. From the waterfalls and tulips to the glimpses of butterflies and birds in the gardens, there was a little something for all!

“I asked the residents what their favorite thing was and we could not agree on just one thing,” said Activities Director Adriana Moreno. “The residents knew most of the plants and flowers there but we loved the fact that most of them had a sign with the name and a little bit about the plant or flower. We enjoyed it so much we took a second trip to the botanical gardens!”
