A Snapshot of History (Hickory Village Memory Care)

July 15, 2019 (Hickory, NC) ─ In honor of Iconic Photo Day, the ladies at Hickory Village Memory Care, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Hickory, channeled their inner Rosie the Riveter for an unforgettable photo shoot!

Hickory Village Iconic Photo Day

Pictured clockwise are Denise Mitchem, Myrtle Hilton, Kathy Baldwin and Wilma Kendall. Hickory Village residents chose to represent Rosie the Riveter because she was a national symbol representing women who worked in factories and shipyards during World War II. Posters featuring the iconic image were used in commercial advertising by the government to encourage women to volunteer for wartime services in factories, and she became the subject of a Hollywood movie during World War II.

“What an incredible honor to hear testimonies from the ladies about how everyone bonded together during wartimes and helped each other out,” said Activities Director Jessica White. “Times certainly have changed but it was nice to take a step back in time for just a moment.”
