Far Apart But Close at Heart (Westwood Commons)

May 4, 2020 (North Chili, NY) ─      Though circumstances may keep seniors at Westwood Commons from their families, residents at the DePaul Senior Living Community in North Chili aren’t letting that stop them from staying connected.

Pictured above, resident Anne Wolfe keeps her sense of humor about her in a note to family on Facebook, and Laura St. John and Betty and Joe Leo keep up with family in virtual chats.

Westwood Commons residents have also exchanged hopeful letters with and received heartfelt donations from the community.

Elevation Church members sent cards and visited to share signs of hope with residents through the windows, as seen above. In return, residents like Marcia Siracuse, pictured above, sent back notes of thanks and hope.

Several other young adults from the community have also sent cards and letters. In one such case, a forgotten return address on a letter from a community member to a resident had a happy ending thanks to a post on the senior living community’s Facebook page! The original sender was found and the resident was able to send her sincere thanks to the young girl!

There’s also been an outpouring of support in the form of donations including snacks and cards for the Westwood Commons staff from LeRoy Girl Scout Troop 42155 and homemade face masks from Joann Kanicsar, Brenda Adam, Penny Stoffle, Ashley Honeycutt, Michele Enders and Leslie Fine.
