February 16, 2021 (Wallace, NC) ─ At 99 years old, Merrimon Gravely has a lot of blessings to count, from the places she’s traveled, the things she’s done, and most of all, her five children, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren! The Greensboro native recently celebrated her 99^th birthday at Dayspring of Wallace, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Wallace.

A Greensboro native who is described by Dayspring of Wallace staff as “pure” sunshine, Merrimon is known for her eye for style, staying active and singing hymns. Her 99^th birthday celebration included cake, ice cream and chips followed by a balloon release! Merrimon also sang “Amazing Grace” over the PA system.

Merrimon considers her five children her greatest accomplishment, and when asked her secret to longevity, she says “having faith in God, and a little lipstick helps too.”
