Meet the Team: Sherina Blades, Mosaic Apartments Property Manager

DePaul is thrilled to welcome Sherina Blades, Property Manager of the Mosaic Apartments in Schenectady which officially opened on June 13, 2025!
Sherina brings a deep sense of dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to DePaul’s mission. We’re proud to shine a light on the heart and hard work she brings to the team each day.
1. As the Property Manager of DePaul’s Mosaic Apartments, how would you describe a typical day in your role?
My typical day involves overseeing the daily operations of the community, ensuring resident satisfaction, coordinating maintenance requests, and working closely with staff to maintain a welcoming environment. I also handle administrative tasks and strive to create a positive experience for everyone who walks through our doors.
2. In what ways does your work at the Mosaic Apartments contribute to DePaul’s broader mission?
My work helps foster a safe, inclusive, and vibrant community where residents can thrive. By providing excellent service and maintaining a well-managed property, I support DePaul’s commitment to social responsibility, community engagement, and creating a welcoming environment for all.
3. How will you foster a sense of community among residents?
I believe in creating opportunities for residents to connect through events, open communication, and personalized interactions. Building relationships and listening to residents’ needs helps foster a sense of belonging and community.
4. What has been the most rewarding part of your role so far?
The most rewarding part is seeing residents happy and comfortable in their homes, knowing I’ve contributed to a positive living environment. It’s fulfilling to resolve issues and make a real difference in their experience.
5. Since stepping into this role, what’s one thing you’ve learned about yourself—personally or professionally?
I’ve learned that patience, adaptability, and active listening are key to successful management. Every challenge is an opportunity to grow and improve.
6. Are you originally from Schenectady? If not, where is home for you—and what brought you here?
I am not originally from Schenectady; I am from Albany which is a neighboring city. I’m here for the opportunity to work in property management and to be part of a community where I can relate and give back!
7. What are most excited about in the coming months at Mosaic Apartments?
I am excited about upcoming community events, new initiatives to enhance resident experience, and continuing to build a strong, connected community.
8. Can you tell us about your family, pets, and/or support system?
Absolutely! My husband and I have three children and a teacup Yorkie named Jacko. We love to spend time together traveling and we look forward to volunteering at community events.
9. What are some of your favorite ways to spend time outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy exploring local parks, traveling, and trying new recipes. I also like volunteering and engaging in community service activities.
10. Is there a cause or issue you’re passionate about beyond work at DePaul?
Yes, I am deeply passionate about addressing childhood trauma and supporting mental health awareness, affordable housing and community development. I believe that understanding and healing childhood trauma is vital to fostering healthier individuals and stronger communities, everyone deserves a safe and comfortable place to call home. I’m committed to advocating for mental health resources and reducing stigma around these issues.
11. What is a personal achievement you’re especially proud of?
One personal achievement I’m proud of is being able to work through my childhood traumas. Also, having the ability to send my oldest daughter to college.
