How long have you worked at DePaul and what other roles have you held during your time here?

Over the past 42 years, I’ve held a variety of roles including On-site Manager and Entitlement Specialist. I’ve overseen a wide range of responsibilities such as lawn maintenance and landscaping, agency vehicle management, and served as a certified defensive driving instructor. I also played a key role in launching the REFRESH Clothing Boutiques, a partnership between Living Opportunities of DePaul and local dry cleaners aimed at reducing textile waste by providing clothing to DePaul clients at no cost, keeping textiles out of landfills.  Additionally, I am a certified notary public.

In what ways does your role contribute to DePaul’s broader mission?

Providing quality financial management services to our clients is of the utmost importance. It is essential that the people we serve have the financial resources to meet their needs and achieve their goals, while also enabling DePaul to continue delivering care and services to the populations and communities that depend on them.

What’s your favorite aspect about working with your team?

We all work together to ensure our clients’ needs are met, navigating a complex role that requires balancing legal, financial, and emotional challenges.

Can you share a memorable success story or moment that stands out from your time at DePaul?

I represented a client at a Social Security hearing before an Administrative Law Judge concerning an overpayment issue. After researching relevant policy guidelines, I identified a provision that supported exemption from repayment. The judge acknowledged the strength of the information I presented, agreed with my interpretation, and approved a full waiver.

Would you be open to sharing about your family, pets and/or support system?

My wife of 39 years has been my biggest support! She helped me recognize the early signs of heart issues and stood by me throughout my quadruple bypass surgery and recovery. We are also blessed with a daughter and son-in-law, a granddaughter and grandson, and three dogs along with one cat who keep us busy and bring us much joy.

What are some of your favorite ways to spend time outside of work?

My wife and I enjoy camping and exploring new areas and taking scenic rides in our classic Corvette.

What is a personal achievement you’re especially proud of?

My 6-year-old granddaughter invited me to join her in a dance at her recital held at the Center for the Arts at the University at Buffalo, a venue that seats 1,800 people. It was an incredible honor to share the stage with her. I was proud to remember the routine and keep up with her energy in front of a packed house!

Thank you to Bob for 42 years of making a difference at DePaul! Stay tuned as we continue to highlight the passionate individuals who make our work possible.
