Meet Our Team: Kathy Curtis-Rubin
At DePaul, we take great pride in recognizing the dedication and service of our team members!
For 30 years, Kathy Curtis-Rubin has been a driving force behind DePaul’s mission. Her unwavering dedication and compassionate leadership truly reflect the heart of our organization.

You’ve dedicated 30 years to DePaul, an incredible milestone! What do you love most about our organization?
In my years here, I have found a sense of teamwork to be one of our agency’s most admirable traits. Each time I have a question or concern, I am met with collaboration and guidance from numerous departments and people. Everyone here is open, helpful, and gracious!
What other roles have you held during your time here?
I was initially hired at DePaul to manage the Crisis Stabilization Unit located in the Corn Hill community residence. The role helped me develop connections with so many agencies and providers in the region and throughout the state.
I’ve also served as the Program Director for the Certified Day Treatment program and have overseen transitional housing.
Currently, I am the Senior Director of Treatment Services and oversee Hopelink at Shelter Cove in Churchville, a short-stay residence in which individuals who are hospitalized have exclusive access to a unique residential alternative upon discharge from the hospital.
What inspired you to pursue a career in your field?
I wanted to be a nurse from the time I was three even though there was no one in my life in the health care field. I am grateful to have been able to utilize my extensive background in nursing and management in a variety of fields including medical, surgical, addiction, and mental health services.
Can you share a memorable success story or moment that stands out from your time at DePaul?
My experiences at DePaul have been overwhelmingly positive, a result I attribute to the exceptional teams I have had the privilege of working with and leading. This success is largely due to the diligence, creativity, and dedication of those I have supervised, particularly individuals who consistently think outside the box and demonstrate a strong commitment to working with people facing complex challenges.
What’s the best compliment you’ve received in your role?
Some of the most important compliments are when colleagues have reached out to me for consultations or suggestions. They have come from within our organization as well as from numerous agencies and programs throughout local communities and across the United States.
Can you tell us about your family, pets, and/or support system?
I am married to a retired social worker and live on 7+ acres. We have four adult children, five grandchildren, and another on the way! We are also the official pet watchers for numerous family members’ dogs.
What are some of your favorite ways to spend time outside of work?
Since I now work part-time, I love helping watch my younger grandkids. When I have free time, I spend it gardening, doing yard work, reading and enjoying music any way I can.
I often think about how fortunate I am to have good health and friend and family connections both locally and around the state and country, things I don’t take for granted. I can’t imagine not working, even though I am well past retirement age 😊 Hopefully that good fortune will continue for the foreseeable future!
Thank you to Kathy for 30 years of making a difference at DePaul! Stay tuned as we continue to highlight the passionate individuals who make our work possible.
