DePaul is founded in 1958 in Rochester, New York. Originally known as “The DePaul Clinic,” it was once a program of the Catholic Family Center created to meet the mental health needs of children in the Diocesan School District.
1979
DePaul Clinic becomes DePaul Mental Health Services, Inc. The first community residence opened on West Avenue in Rochester, New York becoming the cornerstone of DePaul’s mental health residential services.
1984
Established DePaul Adult Care Communities, Inc. This DePaul division now provides senior living services in New York, North Carolina and South Carolina.
1992
The DePaul Group, Inc. was formed as the umbrella organization that oversees all DePaul divisions. During this year, DePaul disaffiliated with Catholic Charities.
1994
DePaul’s Administration offices move to their current location at 1931 Buffalo Road in Gates, New York.
1996
DePaul affiliates with Living Opportunities of Western New York, Inc. adding Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming counties to DePaul’s service area.

DePaul expands senior living into North Carolina with the purchase of Twelve Oaks in Mt. Airy.
2000
DePaul Community Services opens Edgerton Square, its first Single Room Occupancy (SRO) program for adults in recovery from mental illness.
2004
The Health Association merges with DePaul, adding addiction prevention and other services to DePaul’s continuum of care.
2011
DePaul opens the Bullshead Commons Campus on Main Street in Rochester, New York. The campus consists of Halstead Square, a 75-bed Single Room Occupancy (SRO) program, the 14-bed Main Street Treatment Apartment Program and the 24-unit Brown Street Apartments.

DePaul expands senior living into South Carolina with the purchase of Pee Dee Gardens in Florence.
2014
DePaul opens the Riverside Apartments in Buffalo, New York, our first significant historical rehabilitation project. The Riverside Apartments are a mixed-use campus that include a total of 68 apartments for income-eligible tenants.

DePaul opens the Carriage Factory Apartments in Rochester, New York. The project transformed the 100-year-old Cunningham Carriage Factory into 71 studio-, one- and two-bedroom loft apartments for income-eligible tenants.
2015
DePaul opens the Rochester View Apartments in Henrietta, New York. The project contains 61 new rental units for income-eligible tenants offering enhanced supports to accommodate tenants who may be Deaf, hard of hearing and those using American Sign Language.

DePaul opens The Villas at Rolling Ridge, DePaul's first Independent Senior Living Apartment Community in Newton, Grove, North Carolina.

DePaul opens the Trolley Station Apartments in Canandaigua, New York. The project contains 48 units for income-eligible tenants and the name Trolley Station pays homage to the site's former use as a stop on a trolley line designed to transport employees to a large orphanage built in Canandaigua after the Civil War.

DePaul opens the Ebenezer Square Apartments in West Seneca, New York. The mixed-use development replaces a long-vacant and blighted big-box store and offers affordable apartments integrated with 75 units of licensed residential housing serving individuals with a mental health diagnosis in recovery.

DePaul launches DePaul Hopelink at Shelter Cove in Churchville, New York, a short-stay residence for adults being discharged from a medical hospital.

DePaul opens Prestwick Village, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Laurinburg, North Carolina.

DePaul opens the Joseph L. Allen Apartments in Schenectady, New York, named to honor the memory of Schenectady's first African-American City Councilman. The affordable housing development features 51 studio, one- and two-bedroom units, 25 of which are set aside as supportive housing for individuals requiring services to live independently in the community.

DePaul opens Wheatfield Commons, a brand new DePaul Senior Living Community providing both assisted living and memory care accommodations in North Tonawanda, New York.

DePaul opens the Packet Boat Landing Apartments, a three-story, 62,000 square-foot affordable housing development in Lockport, New York featuring 60 new one-bedroom units, 21 of which are set aside as supportive housing to assist individuals to live independently in the community.

DePaul opens the Upper Falls Square Apartments in Rochester, New York, a two-building, 150 units consisting of 102 studio, 37 one-bedroom and 11 two-bedroom apartments. Seventy-five of the units are set aside as supportive housing to assist individuals to live independently in the community.

DePaul opens the Skybird Landing Apartments in Geneseo, New York, a 60-unit facility consisting of six two-story buildings with 10 units each. There are a total of 55 one-bedroom and five two-bedroom apartments. Thirty of the units are set aside as supportive housing to assist individuals to live independently in the community.

DePaul opens the Knitting Mill Apartments in Perry, New York, a 48-unit facility consisting of 42 one-bedroom and six two-bedroom apartments. The existing building (The Perry Knitting Company) was converted into apartments and a new two-story addition was constructed.

DePaul opens the DeWitt Clinton Apartments in Rome, New York, an 80-unit facility consisting of 56 one-bedroom, 10 two-bedrooms, six one-bedroom townhomes and eight two-bedroom townhomes. Forty units are set aside as supportive housing to assist individuals to live independently in the community.

DePaul opens La Rosa Villas in LeRoy, New York, a 60-unit facility consisting of six studios, 48 one-bedroom and six two-bedroom apartments. On-site supportive services are available for 30 tenants. La Rosa Villas is an affordable housing community for individuals 55 years old and above.

DePaul opens the Starting Line Apartments in Utica, New York, a 60-unit facility consisting of 54 one-bedroom and six two-bedroom apartments. Thirty units are set aside as supportive housing to assist individuals to live independently in the community.

DePaul assumes operation of the Heritage Manor Estates and Heritage Manor in Lockport, New York. The Heritage Manor Estates, A DePaul Independent Senior Living Apartment Community, offers 24 one-story duplex apartments. Heritage Manor, a senior living community, offers a commitment to enhancing quality of life and promoting independence.

DePaul completes admission of 40 residents to the Clinton Avenue Apartments, a Home Leasing development in Albany, New York.

DePaul opens the Boxcar Apartments in Albion, New York, a 40-unit facility consisting of 36 one-bedroom and four two-bedroom apartments. Twenty units are set aside as supportive housing to assist individuals to live independently in the community.

DePaul opens the Apple Blossom Apartments in Cheektowaga, New York, a 110-unit facility consisting of 12 studio, 77 one-bedroom and 21 two-bedroom apartments. Forty-eight units are set aside as supportive housing to assist individuals to live independently in the community.

DePaul opens the Veddersburg Apartments in Amsterdam, New York, a 62-unit facility consisting of 12 studio, 46 one-bedroom and 4 two-bedroom apartments. 31 units are set aside as supportive housing to assist individuals to live independently in the community.
