Charles J. Lesh, MD Apartments – 55 and Over Single-Site Supportive Housing
Charles J. Lesh, MD Apartments, a Single-Site Supportive Housing Program, provides long-term or permanent housing where residents can access the support services they require to live successfully in the community.
Charles J. Lesh, MD Apartments has a total of 62 units; 10 units are reserved for the 55 and Over Supportive Housing Program. All 10 units are fully furnished and include start-up items such as linens, dishes, silverware, and pots and pans. All utilities including heat, air conditioning, hot water, electricity, local television, and garbage removal are included in the cost of rent. Rent for tenants is thirty percent of one’s income or the Department of Human Services (DHS) shelter rate. The security deposit is paid by DePaul.
Apartments in the 55 and Over Single-Site Supportive Housing Program feature a fully equipped kitchen with a range, refrigerator and microwave, a wall-mounted flat screen TV including access to local channels with cable hookups. In-unit storage is also included. Washer and dryer are included in each apartment. There is also off-street parking. Tenants have access to a community room, lounges, and a computer lab. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in common areas in the building. The building is 100 percent smoke free. There are designated smoking areas provided outdoors.
Tenants will be assigned to a housing specialist on-site to assist with linkages in the community, provide advocacy, and learning how to maintain an apartment. Housing specialists are on-site Monday through Friday during business hours. Tenants will need to have significant independent living skills to maintain their apartment.
