Happy Tails (Glenwell)

November 25, 2014 (Cheektowaga, NY) ─ There’s been an awful lot of tails wagging at Glenwell, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Cheektowaga! The seniors at Glenwell enjoy pet therapy visits from three different dogs each month. There’s Cleopatra the Rottweiler, Leo the Labradoodle and Riley, a two-year-old Double Doodle.

“She loves to try and kiss the residents or steal their food,” said Riley’s owner Cindy Stempniak.

A certified pet therapy dog, Riley loves visiting Glenwell just as much as the residents enjoy having her.

“As soon as we pull into the driveway her tail starts wagging,” said Stempniak. “She knows where she is.”

Activities Director Scott Wieser said the furry visitors are just one of the ways Glenwell is creating a home-like environment for its seniors.

“A lot of them were pet owners in the past, so they can reminisce about the animals they’ve enjoyed throughout their lives,” said Wieser.
