Sunshine and Centenarians at Wheatfield Commons

July 16, 2025 (North Tonawanda, NY) ─  From gardens and outings to birthday celebrations, seniors at Wheatfield Commons, a DePaul Senior Living Community in North Tonawanda, are soaking up seasonal joy and stories that span more than a century.

Pictured clockwise above, Dorothy Getty keeps cool on the porch with a slushie,  Roger Matiash enjoys a moving visit to the flag display at the Niagara Falls Field of Honor, Marie Kalinowski and Ruth Helfinstine harvest crisp lettuce for salads from the courtyard garden beds, and John Oggiono explores antiques at the Sanborn Lewiston Farm Museum.

Wheatfield Commons also recognized several milestone birthdays. Pictured left, centenarian Dorothy Landis is known for her sense of humor, love for family, and ability to make friends wherever she goes. Her mom lived to be 107 — longevity runs in the family! Pictured right, Patricia Bartlett, a Buffalo Bills fan and bingo enthusiast, was recognized with a visit from a representative of Assemblyman Angelo Morinello’s office in April. Her secret to youth is simple: be kind.
