Ageless Adventures at Wheatfield Commons
September 19, 2025 (North Tonawanda, NY) ─ Celebrated September 7-13, National Assisted Living Week is an opportunity to highlight the role of assisted living in caring seniors. Wheatfield Commons in North Tonawanda recognized the annual observance with a variety of events and activities designed around this year’s “Ageless Adventures” theme.

National Assisted Living Week (NALW) kicked off with a trip back to the 1960s including a fun photoshoot, bean bag toss, records from the era, and fake tattoos! Pictured top row on left with a Volkswagen bus backdrop is Richard Koch.
Residents checked bowling off their summer bucket list with a visit to Cherry Laurel Lanes in Amherst. Pictured top row middle, stepping up to bowl, is Patricia Roch.
Farm Day included a stop at a farmer’s market to shop for apples and cucumbers for homemade pickles and applesauce, lunch at Wagner’s Farm Market, and a drive on the countryside. Pictured top row on left amidst the pumpkins is Arlene Hughes.
Hawaiian Day featured a Luau Lunch, a photoshoot, and entertainment by John Renna. The menu created by our Dietary Director Julia included roast pork, Hawaiian fried rice, pineapple coleslaw, and Hawaiian wedding cake. Pictured top row on left enjoying the festivities is Janet Berent.
Wii bowling and bingo have been stirring up some fun competitions! Pictured bottom row, middle with a trophy earned in Wii bowling is Sharon Murray.
A trip to the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum never fails to take us back in time to simpler days. After soaking up the fascinating history and artifacts, we rounded out our visit with a ride on The “Big” 1916 Number One Special Carrousel. Pictured bottom row, right on the outing is Rose Vicchio.
