Celebrating 100 Years Young! (Southfork)

September 13, 2017 (Winston-Salem, NC) ─  Living simply without regrets has helped Southfork resident Dorothy Bell surpass the century mark! The DePaul Senior Living Community in Winston-Salem celebrated Dorothy’s 100th last month along with friends and family.

Born on August 2, 1917 in Bassett, Virginia, Dorothy was one of 10 children. Her family moved to Surry County “for a simple country life.”

Her family’s farm backed up to her future husband’s family farm. Together, the two ran a successful used car business, as well as an antique and clothing store. The couple had two children and many years of happy marriage before he passed away.

Dorothy has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren – too many to count. A resident of Southfork since April 2016, she enjoys sewing and attending live music performances! With a youthful smile which belies her age, Dorothy said there’s no secret to living so long, and that if she had the chance to do it again, she wouldn’t change a thing!
