On the Prowl for May Flowers (Southfork)

April 24, 2018 (Winston-Salem, NC) ─ Rather than waiting for April showers to bring May flowers, residents at Southfork, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Winston-Salem went on the hunt for spring. What better place to find it than at the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden?

Residents enjoyed the Pattern Garden, featuring the largest spring bulb display in the Piedmont Triad area.

A place of education, beauty and enjoyment, Southfork residents also paid a visit to the herb garden and water fountain, stopping to smell the flowers and soak up the warmth of the sunshine and fresh spring air.

Back home, residents were busy preparing for summer with raised garden beds at Southfork with assistance from volunteer Rebecca Subbiah. Pictured on the left below, residents Helen Buckles, Pat Mitchell, Brenda Bailey, Bob Joyce enjoyed planting lettuces, spinach, snap peas, carrots and beans. In addition, Lillie Joyce and Helen Buckles got their hands dirty planting colorful pansies and begonias.
