An Apple a Day… (Twelve Oaks)

August 27, 2014 (Mt. Airy, NC) ─ Residents at Twelve Oaks, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Mt. Airy, filled their arms with apples and their minds with memories of homemade apple pies and growing up on farms during a recent trip to pick apples in Ararat, Virginia. Residents visited the land which formerly belonged to Twelve Oaks Activities Director Anna Burford’s grandfather E.P. Harrell.

Twelve Oaks residents Irene White, Lucille Woodall and Bonnie Lundy fill their arms with apples while Carl Murray considers an afternoon snack.

Burford shared stories of picking apples on her grandfather’s land.

“There’s nothing like a trip down memory lane,” Burford said.

Afterwards, residents headed to the local country store for a cold RC Cola.
