Excitement Builds at Wexford House!

September 12, 2014 (Denver, NC) ─ Excitement abounds at Wexford House, a DePaul Senior Living Community, as residents and staff transform their building into a tropical rain forest filled with exotic animals, butterflies and many other species.

Residents and staff began working together in June to transform the senior community for a Jungle Party for residents. On September 26th, Wexford House will celebrate and recognize service providers such as hospice, Department of Social Services, area hospitals, nursing homes, home health, law enforcement, firefighters and many others with a Jungle Rumble.

Administrator Pam Morrell said Wexford House has been hosting parties to recognize the community’s service providers for many years, but she believes the Jungle Rumble will be the biggest and best ever.

“Our residents are waiting for me each morning to get started on the decorations,” said Administrative Assistant Chris Brown. “People coming in for tours love seeing the artwork!”

Residents are currently creating “binoculars” with paper towel rolls, Brown is working on completing a gorilla, and Morrell is constructing a “wild animal” cage made of vintage 15-inch long wood spools once used in old North Carolina textile factories, dating back to the 1960s. Morrell said the excitement is building for September 26th.

“Residents and staff are having fun working in tandem to create realistic props and our service providers have said they can hardly wait for the Jungle Rumble,” said Morrell. “No one can throw a party like Wexford House!”
