Celebrate National Assisted Living Week (Heath House)

August 28, 2017 (Lincolnton, NC) ─ Heath House, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Lincolnton, is gearing up to celebrate National Assisted Living Week (NALW) September 10-16 with events planned to honor residents and their families, staff and even community members!

National Assisted Living Week kicks off at Heath House with a Friends and Family Fun Day complete with games, prizes, music and more, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10. Lincolnton Mayor Ed Hatley is expected to read a proclamation and the Lincolnton High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps will assist with games!

Heath House will pay tribute to community professionals including police, fire department and EMS and other emergency professionals with a cookout from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12.

The community is invited to learn more strategies for connecting and communicating with our loved ones and/or residents who are living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease with Heath House Activities Director Millie Guy. This free workshop, “Communication Strategies for Dementia Care,” will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 14 at Heath House located at 919 Wilma Sigmon Road in Lincolnton.

Festivities wrap up on Friday with an End of Summer Bash for employees.

Established by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL), the theme of this year’s celebration “Family is Forever” was inspired by the Maya Angelou quote “family isn’t always blood, it’s the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are, the ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what.”
