Artist in the Spotlight (Prestwick Village)

September 14, 2017 (Laurinburg, NC) ─ Lucille Capps has always loved creating, no matter what stage of her life! The resident at Prestwick Village, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Laurinburg, North Carolina, has had many poems published and also takes great pride in leading her fellow residents in crafting activities!

After experiencing complications while delivering her fourth daughter, Mrs. Capps began writing about her thoughts and happenings in a journal, which led her to become serious about writing short stories and later poetry. A member of the Poetry Society of America, her latest poem “Discontent” was published in the third edition of the “American Poet” by Eber & Wein Publishing and is available on Amazon.

Years later, when her husband fell ill, she began making earrings and rings which she would give away as gifts in the hospital and elsewhere. She also made jewelry for her daughter’s shop “Southern Market Place” located in Indian Trail, North Carolina.

“This gives me something to do every day and it is a full-time fulfillment. My children are happy when they see me happy and having these hobbies makes very happy.”
