May 8, 2019 (Mt. Airy, NC) ─ Reflecting on 102 years, Aileen Badgett’s best advice is “never look back.” She credits her faith and good health for her longevity.

“God blessed me, maybe because I drink a lot of milk, never smoked and stayed busy,” she said. “I don’t know what to think. I’m just blessed.”

A resident of Twelve Oaks, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Mt. Airy, Aileen celebrated her 102nd birthday in April surrounded by friends, family, staff and fellow residents. She’s pictured above on the left at her celebration and on the right with a family member.

A Mt. Airy native, Aileen was one of nine siblings. She married Samuel Wesley Badgett when she was 21 and together the two owned and operated a farm. When she wasn’t working at home, she was employed at a local hosiery mill. Aileen has two children, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
