Seniors Salute to Seniors (Glenwell)

June 26, 2020 (Cheektowaga, NY) ─ Look ahead, plan ahead, enjoy life, and listen to your mother. That’s just some of the advice that seniors at Glenwell, a DePaul Senior Living Community in Cheektowaga offered up to the graduating class of 2020 in this congratulatory video! The upcoming high school graduation was an opportunity for a few residents to reminisce about their own school days!

Glenwell Seniors Advice

Pictured top left, Mary Matre’s favorite memories of her senior year was being an acrobat in a circus at school! Instead of walking the stage at graduation, seniors in her class would stand up when their name was called and pull their diploma out of their sleeve.

Glenwell resident Betty Walczak, pictured above in the middle, started out at St. Mary’s High School but transferred to Lancaster High School in her senior year to take chemistry so she could go into nursing. Despite the adjustment, she has fond memories of her school days and said she was in tears when she graduated because she could not believe she had finally done it!

Roberta Yohn, pictured top right, was president of the Art Club and played sports in high school. After graduating, she went onto Bryant and Stratton Business School. She recalls her graduation being a beautiful day! Her advice to students is to “keep your head together, study and get good grades.”

“Strive to get a good job that will make you happy,” she concludes.
